Finger of Fate
The planets sometimes decorate the sky with interesting designs. Mars, Jupiter and Pluto have agreed to make September a rather interesting month as they manoeuvre themselves into a configuration known as a yod. Those with knowledge of yods may wince nervously at the thought of enduring a whole month of yod experiences and they do not shudder in vain as this planetary picture does have a rather portentous reputation.
The planets move into position on the 3rd September 2005 and slide out of formation on the 3rd October. From the 15th to the 20th September the energy intensifies and is at its strongest on the 17th and 18th, perfectly timed with the full moon. However, there is a tendency for the intensity to peak at other times during the month – different strokes for different folks.
A look at yods in general may be useful before exploring the significance of the Mars, Jupiter and Pluto yod. Certain ancient teachings refer to the yod as a celestial pointer, the Finger of God or the finger of fate because it shows the way to a destiny type moment or an important purpose. This may sound very exciting but the path to that illustrious point is littered with painful incidents including loss, sacrifice and separation. Before achieving the grand moment that alters our destiny, a profound transformation must occur. Certain things have to change that stand between us and the fabulous triumph. The pain facilitates a change in consciousness that probably could not have occurred without the anguish.
The natural reaction is to resist with all our might as the agony of loss is too awful to contemplate. Resistance increases the intensity to intolerable levels and then something breaks. The ensuing relief is like a cool drink of water in a parched desert and we no longer care that we had to let go of our greatest form of security or lose something that once was not negotiable, we just don’t care! The shift occurs as a result of a mental adjustment, a change of heart and a different way of behaving.
In some way the yod serves the purpose of changing victim consciousness. It slams us into victim mode and we then must choose to either flounder in the seemingly helpless place or make a change that enables us to be liberated from the victim’s shackles. Not only do we soar free, we discover dormant abilities and hidden talents to do something quite spectacular. The moment the change happens the yod provides a tenfold return on whatever was lost. It comes in an entirely new and improved form. The gratitude at this point is immense.
This particular yod is forcing a breakthrough into another direction, a different way of life or the emerging of innovative talents. Our consciousness opens to a new discovery – in personal terms or in global terms. It opens a new form of expression. An old stagnating way of life becomes impossible to maintain and the yod energy forces a change of circumstance. This particularly applies to the work arena but could spill into personal situations too. Quirky occurrences suddenly take us along a new path that was not anticipated, perhaps desired but not currently within reach. The breakthrough happens and suddenly it is all possible!
Financial insecurity interferes with the ability to share or to express generosity. The yod exposes meanness of spirit and tightly clenched fists that desperately cling to assumed forms of security or old habits. A change of perspective and a good dose of trust will make the world of difference.
