AN ATTRACTIVE LAW? by Steve Judd
What is the Law of Attraction, and what does it mean? How does it work? What are the pro's and cons in regard to the power of attraction? How can it best be used?
An internet search shows many different practitioners, all using ‘The Law of Attraction'. It can ‘improve your life', ‘make you money' or ‘bring you blessings'. Life coaches and NLP practitioners use the term regularly. However, underneath the superficiality lies a philosophy as old as life itself.
The basis of this law is that like attracts like. It's more complicated than magnets which attract or repel, but not much more. It's beyond the purely physical, there's an intuitive and empathic side to it. There's a natural, organic and harmonious benefit in being with someone similar. A little difference is essential, but birds of a feather do flock together.
‘You reap what you sow' shows a karmic way of expressing this law. You can have a rich life if you give some away. Over time, you get back from life what you put in. This means you get what you give, and vice versa. It also means that you have to live according to your conscience. What comes round goes round!
Be careful what you wish for, or you might get it. Always check your reasons before magnetising something or someone towards you. Most people think they would be happy if they were successful. Really, they would be successful if they were happy first. What's the difference between needs, wants and desires and where are the borders?
There are cases like accident victims, virus recipients and general hard luck stories. They didn't attract their lives, or ‘dream it in'. They've done nothing wrong, yet their lives have been blighted. Have they, even in some unconscious way, attracted the circumstances of their life? Or are they on the wrong end of a negative use of attraction?
Of course, there is also the commercial route to consider. You can attend The Law of Attraction training centre. You can become a certified Law of Attraction practitioner. You can attract money telling others how to attract money. Nothing wrong with this, although it could be seen as pyramid selling.
The safest use of the law is to attract the best for everyone concerned. Fantasy stays between the ears, but the imagination can be created. Goethe said 'Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it'. Just ensure that what you want for yourself is also in the common interest. It does seem that to benefit self, you must also benefit others.
Attraction is the magnetic relationship between things or persons that are drawn together. Attraction results in gravity pulling raindrops to Earth. Attraction makes us look at our partners and smile. Attraction towards something or someone brings us closer to happiness. Attraction keeps the Earth and the Moon in place around the Sun. Attraction keeps us alive.
