I'm not going to waffle too long about the Big Green Gathering, because I know it doesn't mean that much to many of you.  But to the astrologers amongst us at the start of the BGG in 1994, it was clear that this was a seven year thing.  In 2001 I proposed closing it down and relaunching, but was knocked back.  So it goes.  The reasons it has been cancelled will never be crystal clear.  Certainly there are vested interests in the hierarchy of this country who don't want environmentalist attitudes to prevail, and amongst certain areas of the police and council there was opposition.  But if the damn thing had been organised properly, the forms filled in correctly and a realistic approach to finance embraced from the start instead of hippy dippy platitudes, everything would be watertight and it would have gone ahead.  And yes, with Jupiter on the BGG's Sun, and the Chiron/Neptune conjunction confusing and obscuring the BGG's Venus/Pluto square, there will be shadowy clouds and suspicions for years to come.  And the sad thing is that despite years of effort and success, it will be remembered for the wrong reasons.  RIP.  And that's the last thing I'll say here about the Big Green Gathering.  The phoenix rises...

I really sympathise too. In 1992, I started a campaign to save departments from being axed in our local hospital( major general hospital) The campaign soon grew, and local MPs, and other dignataries became involved. I organised a march,(5000 people) appeared on local TV, gave radio interviews,-those were some of the proudest days of my life. However I became ousted by a woman( who thought she was some sort of hippy pseudo intellectual using all these long words I had never heard of in posh upper class tones) who had decided make herself commitee secretary. She then started to criticise me heavily for some of the interviews I was giving to the press.I eventually walked out and left it all behind. The campaign is still going.... Two years ago this woman wrote a two page article in our local weekly broad sheet newspaper, with the history of this campaign. Not once was I mentioned... With the Big Green Gathering- I hope that everyone gets their money back- why shouldn't they? Also maybe you could start something similar of your own if it isn't going to happen againSteve- or is it all being cancelled just for this year?
