It's Sunday, so it's rant time.  Simple solutions to the UK's problems, and by extension, the world's:  Tax the banks, charging them interest on the money they store instead of putting it to use in the world.  Make government purely based on proportional representation.  Bring in the ‘Tobin tax', charging micropayments on each and every share transaction in the stock market.  Operate a more lateral approach to Afghanistan involving less troops and less expense.  Re-nationalise the transport systems and the utilities (water, gas and electric), thus substantially reducing the costs.  Scrap ID cards.  And most importantly, scrap Trident.  For the cost of one nuclear Trident missile you can build a hospital or three schools.  Invest the money saved into healthcare, housing and renewables.  Make car ownership much more expensive, and promote community rental fleets of hybrid or electric cars.  Close the churches, mosques and synagogues and turn them into community centres.  Give everyone free broadband.  And teach astrology and philosophy in schools - within two generations we will have the end of warfare.  I'm going to get into trouble for this one, aren't I?

Well, not completely (get you into trouble).... Let me do something about the technology since it is still 'my world'... The UK Technology Strategy Board poored all this money into 'electric cars'... but I am not convinced... Batteries, expensive, short life and disposal.... Look at this.. http://www.mdi.lu/miniflowair.php It has been in the making for over 15 years by engineers in the South of France.. now with investment from TATA motors... It will get there eventually.. difficulty is incumbents in the industry, market power...etc Proportional representation.. yes, absolutely... philosophy, social anthropology in school.. yes, absolutely rather than 'religious studies'..understanding religion in context of ideologies.. critical analysis.. create healthy independent individuals... One problem.. if we made ownership of cars more expensive right now, it is the people with low income who will be challenged and impaired.. some will loose their jobs because they might not be able to reach their place of work any other way, in land-based industries... this still applies. I am not promoting the car.. but realistic... the others will continue just the same. Have a good Sunday..

I am absolutely in awe of research currently being carried out at Imperial College London which is using a simple leaf to create solar power. The research is looking at how leaves use sunlight to make useful molecules. The founder of this research is pioneering artificial systems to mimic this process. If this proves successful it is anticipated that this could satisfy the whole worlds energy needs by 2030. What amazing research (and brains). The US are due to fund £35m into similar research.Let's hope the British Government put equal amounts of funding into this project as well. One simple leaf- nature always has the answers.Just imagine no more pollution from petrol, coal fired power stations etc...We need not then worry about running out of oil.If I was in the Government I would be putting this research as a very urgent priority indeed, because surely if this system can happen we need to get it up and running fast before any more highly damaging pollution goes into the atmosphere....and before we run out of oil... Similarly in the US scientists have discovered that rosemary, thymeand other herbs have powerful insecticide properties, and would be equally effective in spraying crops as chemical pesticides. However the downside is that more applications would be needed...and with the current 21st century intensive farming methods, I suppose a lot of farmers would oppose it... but then if we as a race are to survive at all we need to be having a very good look at these chemical pesticides. In France it has been found that the demise of the bee population is linked to chemicals being put on the fields... and yet the British government is in denial over this...I wonder if any of the government members are worried about the consequences if the bee population becomes extinct? We need to reconnect to nature and rever her,and doesn't she have wonderful properties?

Hi Steve, A year or so ago, Annie called me from another room saying listen to this…I put my guitar down with a reluctant sigh and listened patiently as she read out a blog from some bloke called Steve Judd…I can remember listening and thinking WOW this guy speaks my language and since then we have both tunned in with great interest…So of course yes trouble will follow BUT trouble is only resistances to change…So bring on the change because as Mr Dylan said ’The times they are a changing’ and finally there is no need to ’Hanging on in quiet desperation’.(Pink Floyd), It doesn’t have to be the English way… Let us all be lawfully rebellious start living the life we choose a life of love truth, honesty and freedom. love Ernie also from the other side of the Planet xxx

YES I HAVE SAID IT BEFORE VOTE FOR STEVE JUDD...you bring on the solutions and then magically people dissect them and bring about solutions to get round the finer details...lets bring the old system down and start a fresh… bugger the consequences… we will all have to work hard together to start with… pull together… as with the low income car thingy…car pool, give, come on the more advantage OF YOU will just have to start SHARING…in fact, if we all did a bit more of our own redistribution with others of stuff (and don’t just mean possessions but also knowledge skills any thing with out a price tag on it) … you would be surprised how much of a difference… we as individuals would make…the question is …can we do it? WALK THE TALK…See the truth and be in the light expose ourselves and let go of our processions, give our love freely, unconditionally to other so others may live a happy life too…Smile. Open our hearts to the beautiful world we do live in… this is an amazing planet and of course the simple leaf has the answers… SO do all the wild flowers in England and through out the world…BACH FLOWER REMEDIES…Guess What they WORK… Be open and patient give life an honest chance to show you the way… stop trying and start feeling, knowing and then DOING…Meditate more… the right way will come to you through the stillness of you mind and heart. STEVE when you talk like that you inspire me and all I want to do is smile and dance THANKYOU for that. love Annie who lives on the other side of the planet for now... xxx

Great, another one who is trying to steal my church. A viewpoint in marvellous tradition: Hitler did, Stalin did, Mussolini did, Mao did, East Germany did. Lovely company. Though petty mainstream and normal "Zeitgeist". The future is electronic and broadband. It probably is. Including body tagging for everyone. The community centres in the 3rd Reich were also just fantastic. Great team spirit. Astrology was taught in school as well. So that is the great future? Fascism and communism in the perfect mix? I can sense the overall wisdom. Puhhh ... - And everybody here appears to be cheering and in agreement. Or do they all get 'moderated'? Would fit to the above company as well.

Have you seriously considered standing for parliament? You are a serious breath of fresh air and exactly what everyone needs in this country. The 3 main parties are so busy scoring points off each other they've forgotten the real issues. Gordon has now decided that not only is it ok to fail one generation of kids, but the next one as well. Cameron is a conman and Clegg just hasn't got any balls. We need an alternative and I'd be happy to vote for you anytime.
