10th December 2009

We are halfway through a nineteen day period where for the only time this year there are no planets going retrograde (backwards against the backdrop of the stars from our earth based perspective) in the heavens.  To my mind if you've a lot of retrograde planets in your chart then you internalise experience, whereas those without many retrogrades in their chart live much more spontaneously.  To me this period feels like we're going round a corner on two wheels instead of four and we're not slowing down - a bit scary, but a nice buzz all the same if you're not too scared to live a little on the edge.  And - I went to see the movie 2012 yesterday.  Right up there alongside Independence Day on the list of the best ever ‘B' movies, it's great entertainment, a real blockbuster, good for a laugh and completely implausible but nevertheless good fun.  And - I've almost caught up with my list of readings, still taking orders for the festive season but if you want charts as presents, please let me have your orders and payment by this weekend if you're outside of the UK.

I haven't seen 2012, but I will say that the film The Age of Stupid is highly plausible- what is predicted on there is happening already-only recently islanders have had to be evacuated from groups of islands in the Pacific. The icecaps melting is very serious. Scientists have been tracking an iceberg the size of New York - so its obvious sea levels are going to rise and reclaim land... Don't people realise that all the carbon emissions we are putting out is heating up the climate? Do the general public really think we can go on destroying nature at the rate we are without nature kicking back? The Age of Stupid- an apt name for all that is happening to destroy the environment and fuel mankinds greed.Perhaps if we had all listened to the first nation tribes in the States and seen how they give back to nature what they take we wouldn't be in this appalling mess now. It maks me so sad- there is so much intelligence on this planet- clever people-and good people too so why do we seem to be ruled by corruption, greed and sheer stupidity? Seasons Greetings to all!! PS If you're on benefits like me you will be heartened to know that the DWP are sending out their Xmas bonus in January- so methinks I will be celebrating yuletide in January...

Hi Steve, I'm sure you won't post this message but I've got something to say about the recent post you received regarding the 'The age of the stupid'. I'm sorry, but I have to disagree. Whilst I do not claim to know everything about climate change and how much damage, if any, we as a human race as actually caused, has it crossed peoples minds that it can be and mostly probably is exaggerated by the political elite to meet their own ends..does it not make one suspicious when a university professor for climatology is suspended for emails regarding the truth....and one last note...Department of Work and Pensions, i'm sorry, i'm not receiving benefits and I don't get such a christmas bonus!!Silly me for working...Apologies, but I had to say it.

To the above:-I worked for 30 years before having two major operations,(am still unable to walk properly after the last one) and have never been on benefits in my life until recently. The amount one receives is barely enough to live on- perhaps I was just trying to be lighthearted for those of us who visit this site and are unfortunately are out of work due to sickness or the recession. It is very hard trying to live on £65.00 per week, and the Xmas bonus is meagre- so please think don't think all us out of work are because we want to be.It is tough really tough deciding whtether to eat or have heating on a daily basis, and also know you are likely to lose your home...(that is my situation) Oh, and as for the university professor of climatology, 1700 scientists have signed a petition in the last few days to be presented at Copenhagen, thanks to the damage done by this one Professor....

Dear Steve, I think the dss xmas "bonus" is £10 correct me if I'm wrong, anyone ? The usual choice is between heating or food - that's why people land up with water bills arrears etc. South west law Bristol try to help with such matters or try CAB for similar firms that try to stop people losing their homes (at no cost)

Thank you to the above for your advice. You are absolutely right- the stark choice is heating or food-Well I suppose it's time to take the advice of Edwina Currie- anyone remember her memorable words from years ago of putting on more jumpers... Also I have an SAS survival handbook somewhere, which tells you how to make omelettes out of birds eggs, forage for herbs etc. Actually the thought is very enticing- Xmas by a real fire outside with food from the woods....much more fun than sitting inside... Anyway like you say Steve, Negativity can't exist where there's humour..!
