Was astrology invented or discovered?  I think it was realised, discovered in the context of coming to terms with living under a steadily changing pattern in the night sky, with ensuing myths leading to different influences being ascribed to particular visual phenomena.  Prior to the 1670's, astrology was used in gardening, husbandry, food production, politics, trade and medicine.  Today, in Russia, many large hospitals have not only psychic surgeons but also astrological software in their delivery rooms.  In these delivery rooms, mortality rates are down to 0.3%.  But then the Russians are fifty years ahead of the west in psychic studies and related phenomena.  They prefer astrology to psychology or psychotherapy, which is seen as drab, grey and linked to the past, whilst astrology is rich, alive and vibrant.  They've sought to incorporate holistic attitudes and practises alongside basic materialism.  Next - here's three versions of astrology.  An illicit religion - the church.  A pseudo science - the scientists.  A vulgar and ignorant belief - the media.  That's the kettle calling the pot black, in my opinion.  To finish, here's a quote from Ann Geneva, pertaining to the 17th century, but I think also to the 21st.  "Astrology in the 17th century was not a science.  It was not a religion.  It was not magic.  Nor was it astronomy, mathematics, Puritanism, Neoplatonism, psychology, meteorology, alchemy or witchcraft.  It used some of these tools.  It held tenets in common with others, and some people were adept at several of these skills.  But in the end it was only itself; a unique divinatory and prognostic art embodying centuries of accredited methodology and tradition."

Well all I know is that astrology is amazingly accurate. After my magical and beautiful weekend, seeing karma in action etc, last night the same thing happens-I was asked to rescue a local environmental group I belong to from almost certain extinction. Even though I dont need the extra responsibility right now I agreed to step into help. I went to their meeting last night- normally only one or two people turn upu. This time lots of new people, including one lady who I hit it off with immediately- she is well into music festivals, camping, pagan stuff- the openings I have dreamed of for a long time are becoming a reality....The universe provides and somehow all my efforts with rebuilding a social life over the past few years are being rewarded hugely....You said this year I would have a lot of new openings Steve- well you're not wrong, and I am so happy-

Now that's a very interesting bunch of facts - I did not know that about Russia. And well summed up about the various attitudes to astrology today. Could just as well be applied to homeopathy and other 'unscientific' arts. thanks Steve!

Astrology is a part of my life I would not be without. I have only ever had one reading with an astrologer & that was a whole day sitting on a rock, in India, with an Israeli astrologer who shared my exact birthday, same year! He truly opened my eyes to the depths & magic of astrology. I've taught myself since then & kept astro-diaries, & observed patterns. I'm a real beginner but it aids me enormously & I sometimes use it to help my friends. Steve you are far & away the best astrologer I've found on the internet, & when I next have some money spare I will be booking a second reading in with you ( 13 years on from the last!) Your insights are spot on, my heart knows it, & I love all the things that I'm learning about from your blog. I agree it should be taught in schools, I'm going to be teaching it to my kids! Thanks for all the inspiration.

Hi Steve Please please please could you give serious consideration to becoming an independent MP? Myself and hundreds of others in the Bristol/Bath/Glastonbury area would be willing to give you all the help, support and legal advice you could ever wish for. Everybodty agrees you could inflict alot of good both locally AND nationally. I am a member of the 'British Constitution group', and they think the only way to stop all the corruption in parliament (not to mention treason & the ever encroaching police state), is to move away from the party political system and have as many independant MP's elected as possible. The BCG is NOT a political party, think tank, change group, charity or any such other dubious power hungry NGO. They are only interested in reclaiming our individual sovereignty and preserving the British constitution. Go to www.thebcgroup.org.uk or you can email me anytime. From Joey
