Something for the weekend... In the fair city of Bath where I am privileged to live, some naughty naughty people have been breaking the law.  A group of anonymous people have been going around the city at night planting carrots, courgetts, apples and other produce in the local parks and flower beds, and in the hundreds of empty homes there are here.  Geurilla gardening indeed, and obviously I have no idea who's involved. Probably the same people that sewed the planters outside the local police station with an illegal herb.   Go and buy packets of carrot seeds and drop them as you walk.  Free food.  Can you tell it's 5.30 in the morning and I'm only half awake and I'm off to a show?

Wow, what a disgusting thing to do. Plant free food indeed. Whatever next? You'll be putting the supermarkets out of business :) That's absolutely brilliant. Walk around with a pocket full of carrot seeds and scatter them as you go. What a fantastic idea. And I've got loads of willow cuttings (whips) that I've been pushing in the ground in boggy areas while walking the dog. The start of a forrest perhaps? People, and nature, power :) :)

What a difference a day makes... beautiful peaceful energy abounds today-where I live a lovely blue sky ouside, high up an aeroplane has left a white line vapour trail...( I know its pollution but paradoxically I find this sight uplifting.) everything is so calm-the whole energy reminds me more of days I have experienced like this in May.... AS for the guerilla gardeners- clever tenacious people...but I am curious- why so many empty homes in Bath?

Steve: It's spring, and we feel the primal urge to see growth and hope at all levels. If global warming continues, maybe we'll all be scrambling to plant carrots in our flower beds. Perhaps they're just pointing the way ahead.

Hundreds of empty homes-how come? Bank repossessions not sold,or weekend houses for people who work elsewhere? I am intrigued by the gardening- to plant an apple tree that is recognizable as an apple tree grown from seed takes a while.....

Good ideas seed and grow easily! This has been happening for a little while now, glad to see it spreading. Hope somebody remembers to water them :)

Great idea!! Abundance in every sense of the word, if we just don't play by the rules.

I think the idea of guerrilla gardening is the ultimate way of circumventing the big supermarkets and ensuring that we do get to eat good, wholesome fruit & veg for very little. A great idea that certainly gets my vote!! M
