15th March 2010

Because the Earth is tilted at twenty-three and a half degrees, the Ascendant's duration in each zodiac sign differs according to the latitude and longitude that you were born at.  In the UK, the signs of Leo to Scorpio dominate on the Ascendant, with Virgo and Libra taking nearly three hours to rise each whilst the opposite signs of Pisces and Aries take less than an hour each.  In the southern hemisphere, the reverse is true in that the signs of Pisces and Aries are the most common in Australia and New Zealand.  It could be argued that this is why most Aussie's are seen in the UK as either headbangers (Aries rising) or alcoholics (Pisces rising).  But the opposite is true once again in the UK.  Northern Europeans are either anal (Virgo rising) or indecisive (Libra rising).  The Ascendant, or rising sign as it is sometimes known, is only the superficial colouring to the chart.  It's the armour you put on as you go out of the front door.  Many people look like their Ascendant sign rather than their Sun sign.   I suppose I'd better go a bit further.  Aries rising arch their eyes, Taurus rising have strong necks, Gemini rising often have frown lines from an early age, Cancer rising have round faces, Leo rising is all about the hair, Virgo rising is just fussy about appearance, Libra rising has a line twixt lower lip and chin or on the point of the jaw, Scorp rising have the eyes, Sag rising the grin lines and big voice, Cap rising the high cheekbones, Aquarius rising the slanted eye effect and Pisces rising the goldfish bowl look.  If I go any further, I'll get into trouble again, but I bet I'm right with more than two thirds of you...

It would be interesting to where the Asc is for both Susan Boyle and Jimmy Page - one is the other in drag, surely?

Has any other Pisces been affected by the Pisces New Moon today? I have in a very powerful way- I haven't experienced astrological energy like this for a long, long time.. today has seen me rewriting my CV- hours poring over the details, and suddenly I began to realise that it actually looks quite impressive....The energy round me felt more like Virgo or Capricorn- careful attention to detail, practical... All this as a follow up to another powerful(but much more of a roller coaster day) last Wednesday March 10 when Mars started going direct, and I had the first day of a return to work course-which introduced us all to some really helpful on line CV building...and this happened quite out of the blue- a phone call last Monday asking me to attend. I had recently spotted quite by chance (something I have been looking for for some time-)hidden away in a corner of the top floor of our library, a small dog eared leaflet advertising a return to work course- and I was only up there because my computer printer wasn't working....Astrology/fate- I remain intrigued....The whole thing reminds me of the rhyme that someone posted on here recently about a small change in the ship's direction...

it might be interesting to find out how many people went to look in the mirror this morning, and which sign had the highest percentage in front of the mirror, for how long.

First time I've heard the Taurus ascendant described this way Steve but it certainly holds true for me - impossible to hang!! lol Lots of Scorpio rising in my circle and I've always been able to distinguish this by their eyes.
