Those of you who know my writings are aware that I am no fan of organised religion, that for decades I have said that any priest, imam or rabbi who says that you can only talk to God though them is living in the past. And now we have the situation where it seems that we have fed our children to perverted paedophile priests. Catholic Christianity, Islam and Hebraism all promote mysoginistic attitudes towards both women and children, and in Catholicism at least their priests must stay celibate and single. This is the end of religion. We cannot have priests buggering and raping our children on the one hand whilst preaching to the rest of us on the other. Time for a new theology, one based on our own experiences and links with the divine. No more Gods, only spirit. And here's an interesting question - why has there been little if any reaction from the forces of law and order? Why are the priests protected? Put these sicko perverts where they belong - incarceration for the rest of their life. And if we must have religion and priests, then let them marry and have children so that they fit with the rest of us and are truly part of community, instead of being above and seperate from the common people. And the focus of the abuse is getting closer and closer to the Vatican..... Nice gentle quiet Sunday morning homily....

Sunday morning... the theme tune for the Caustic Astrologer...
Astrology- to exhausted to talk about religion- Has anyone on here felt they are at last starting to move(even slightly) out of a long lasting "stuck" phase- I certainly have- surprising developments- involving karma- one- a surprise job offer from a company that I was bullied out of in 2007- Also social life- a social club I was ousted from last July- the lady at the helm has now fallen out with everyone- and most of the members have remained in contact with me anyway.....Its as if the universe is rebalancing certain areas of my life- The feeling last week has been of unfreezing- almost like in a scene in Narnia where the frozen animals etc, start to become alive....
Time to go and address other issues -I have to contact a local environmental group- I agreed to take up a significant post to save it from extinction several weeks ago- I wish I had thought- I dont have the time...tMy theme for the next few months is: slow down, simplify my goals, whilst cautiously working towards them...Sunday morning.....

at the end of the day they are just men ruled by mars. anything pushed underground and denied has a habit of popping out no matter how hard you try to keep in it and in fact the harder you have to work to control it the more power it has. bit like us all really, you could apply that to all of life.

yes, why indeed?
I have learnt that there is a "redress board" that doles out a portion of compensation to people who are strong enough to "prove" that they were abused by their priest, or Catholic Brother in an institution....and in accepting the money, there are conditions imposed - it has to be an end , no more claims, and (I think)limited right to "go public"
How can that stand?
Why this apparent immunity?

To my way of thinking there are few crimes more wicked than a crime against innocent children- anyone committing these sort of disgusting evil crimes against children should be given life prison sentences- perhaps that might stop them- or hanging- I've just been reading "A Shepherd's Life" by WH Hudson and in 1820, people were being hung in Exeter for stealing wood from their neighbours.....haven't times changed...when will people realise the difference between right and wrong...good and evil......and when will we have tougher sentencing in the UK.....

More 'revelations', more opening up, more awareness of what we've all been suffering under for a long time.
This is just one more push in the right direction - away from organised religion. In fact away from 'doing what we are told' in general.
There can be no excuses for what's been happening, and no punishment would be adequate.
The ones who continue to cover it up and pretend all is fine are just as bad as the actual perpetrators.

"And if we must have religion and priests, then let them marry and have children so that they fit with the rest of us and are truly part of community, instead of being above and seperate (sic) from the common people."
-Are you confusing paedophilia with homosexuality? Have all people to adapt to your prescribed hetero-nuclear family normality? Right-wing bollocks frankly....

Yes Steve - unfreezing slowly but surely. have had at least a year of not being able to 'get on' with things ... Now at last I feel as though the wheels are slowly beginning to turn again, and the balances are levelling.
Thanks as always!

Steve ... Islamic priests: Imams, Muftis, Mullahs, have always been allowed (indeed encouraged) to get married.
All those priests who have, down through the ages, seen fit to play with the genitals (or posteriors) of young boys in their care are followers of the two Judaic cults: Judaism and Christianity.
Cases of indecent assault and buggery of minors in Islamic society is almost unheard of. Of course, you can be sure it has happened somewhere, and at some time, but nonetheless it remains a very rare occurrence under Islam (and also very rare under Buddhist and Confucian teachings!).

This is a complex question and goes to the fabric of our society. Those based on Judeo-Christian dogma are now being faced with the real facade of religious dogma but as it is the basis of our social structure and legal system it means a massive breaking down before building something in its place. People are frightened by being confronted by the very basis of their belief systems. Put people in a situation which is wholly unnatural (i.e. celibacy where there is no reason to be) their physical desires take over. Celibacy is a relatively recent thing in the Church, not all Christian churches require it but possibly will eventually show similar issues. And to the previous comment, there is currently a problem in Afghanistan where muslim men are procuring 'dancing boys' for sexual use.

The commenter referring to 'dancing boys' in Afghanistan is correct. But has committed the basic error of drawing wrong conclusions from the practise. Afghanistan, as everyone should know, has been a war zone for over 25 years. People get up to very strange things when stressed by war and societal collapse. Afghanistan is only nominally Muslim, in the same way that Britain was when it was at war. The 'dancing boys' are part of a cultural paradigm peculiar to that region. Furthermore, large parts of Afghanistan have been ruled by gang culture (warlords) for most of the past 25 years. To conclude from these extreme circumstances that 'dancing boys' are a consequence of Islam is both perverse, and a product of ignorance. There are likely 25 times more 'dancing boys' in London than in all of Afghanistan. Other than that, the 19:03 commenter made some excellent comments about celibacy in Christianity. I also note that everyone is too frightened to critique incidents of sexual abuse in Orthodox Judaism, preferring to focus only on Christianity (which in its organized form, is simply a continuation of the Roman Empire). We commit a fundamental error whenever we allow fear to proscribe areas that need to be understood.
