There are more people alive now than in the whole of history put together, which kind of knocks linear reincarnation on the head.  But the feeling of life before birth and life after death is part of our human gnosis, our intuitive primal faith.  And I know that I've always had some type of trace memories of past lives - obviously impossible from a linear space/time perspective.  But here's a thought.  What if, instead of past lives as in dying and being reborn, we all had homoeopathic traces of many, many different lives?  Droplets of this life, droplets of that life........  Western astrology has learnt from its Indian counterpart at least with regard to the introduction of Karma, via the North Node in the horoscope.  Whilst whole books have been written on the subject, the South Node by sign, house and aspect is where life is naturally easy, where you automatically gravitate towards, but where there's no real gain in any way - only complacency.  The North Node by sign, house and aspect represents that which is hard, challenging and difficult, yet which is vital for soul fulfilment.  Where's your North Node?  What don't you want to look at?

Hi Steve, I just looked up my NN and it's at 16 degrees Taurus. Now I'm looking for an interpretation. Can you recommend any website/books? Love the site and loved the thank you song from yesterday. You're welcome :0)

"Hi, my name is . . . and My north node is 12 degrees Virgo." I'm sure that this information would not be a great thing to expose in certain circles even if I am not sure about the exact nature of this disclosure. But it might be interesting to watch. Thanks for the opportunity to flex the muscles required to look into the heavens and see the stars.

SJ here. After lightly dabbling for a few years, the book that got me firmly into astrology thirty years ago was 'The North Node and Re-incarnation' by Martin Schulmann. Still, IMO, the best book on the subject.

I echo your sense of many memories, many existences, - I like the scientific idea that energy cant be destroyed, it can only change its form - when I have my "lost" feelings, I have come to think of it in terms of fragments, left-overs...who/what I have been, and perhaps in non-linear time, who/what I will be... ..and thanks always to you Steve, for a forum in which to say those "out there" things! Off to ponder my Cap NN a bit more, in the face of the possible end of my 2 main work contracts next March...

thats interesting... do you mean a flavour of 'other people's' lives then an awareness of what others have been through when they were incarnate. We are only separate on this level. When we die and return to the source/god/one what ever you want to call it we are all connected we are all one thing so that sounds reasonable to me.

What is it that reincarnates? Memory? What is soul? If it is spirit then why and what does it 'need' to learn - if spirit is The All? The more I question, the more terms need clarifying and boundaries merge. It's great to get the grey matter buzzing, and to try and understand other people's viewpoints. Astrology leads to many questions, and sometimes answers.

Another good NN book, esp for lay folks: Sunshines: The Astrology of Happiness by Michael Lutin. Do what you fear to love and find your bliss.

I believe we are all born into this world for a distinct purpose- however sometimes it's hard to know what that purpose is... So thank you for teaching us about the North Node-something I've never really understood(especially today when I read that Jupiter is about to make a link to the North Node for Pisceans)Your words today have made me really think about just what is a suitable profession for the next 15 years or so... and also where in my own life I keep running into problems- there is a distinct pattern. I am not very good at understanding my chart- I think I have North node in Sagittarius at 11 degrees- how do we all go about interpreting that without buying the book. As for reincarnation- really interesting-that you have "trace memories" of past lives- please tell us more....and does anyone else have anything to say on the subject....

Steve - why do you assume that we always reincarnate as people or on this planet? I've been a flutterby and a Plaeidian in former incarnations!! lol My partner has the north node book you mentioned but I had to google for an intepretation of my NN in Libra in the 6th to answer your question and I did'nt like what I read as it was too close for comfort - the article I read says I need structure and to co-operate when I like to feel free and there's no one I particularly want to cooperate with!! ;) Guess I won't have to bother fulfilling my soul's needs and keep on being reborn - perhaps I could come back as a carnation - I'm not fussed whether it's the floral variety or the can of evaporated milk!! (never understood that term for surely it means the can would be empty?) ALways enjoy a little levity on a Friday night.

TFI-(this is written on Monday catching up after a restorative weekend after the powerful astro landscape of last week)I love the above blog-read it Saturday it really made me laugh. I found a site about the North Node in Sagittarius- and it made a lot of sense to me too....especially about my mind tending to be on information overload. Some of it was fascinating- I am very interested North American Indian tribal peoples, and the site said that I would have an affinity with the great plains All this past life discussion then led me to thinking in a lighthearted mode was I,in a past life Boadicea,(she has to be one of my heroes), as a lot of my time has been spent organising environmental/political protests over the last 20 years- although these havent actually killed anyone! So imagine my surprise(and I rarely find anything on TV worth watching)on Saturday night a good programme about excavations in London at the time of Boadicea, including the most amazing discovery of a sophisticated Roman water system, a beautiful bronze sculpture- I was intrigued- London - two thousand years ago- And I still don't know what I was in a past life- robin, cup of coffee, red Indian, oak tree, the list goes on, ha ha......
