Briefly - The Caustic Astrologer is no more! Glastonbury Radio, in their infinite wisdom, have chosen to sack me on the spot because of something derogatory that I said about one of the advertisers. Well, that's Uranus for you. Sudden changes. But the glass is always half full, I'm really grateful to them for letting me learn my skills. Something new will emerge, always does. More tomorrow.

Thank Heaven for your honest opinions. If the radio gurus tried to put a muzzle on you, then you would have no value to those of us who appreciate your candor. It's great to know you won't support a position that isn't the truth. That's why we read you.

bugger... I thought what you said was good, honest advice and ernie and I agreed some of the advertising was really not to pleasant to the audios. Keep up the honesty. Money still talks in this world and humour has been lost and forgotten. we still love you so keep on keeping on. I just wish we could come to one of the many places you visit as I will miss the sound of your voice. However one day we will return to the mother country. and then who knows its all in the planets....
love annie and ernie from the land down underxxx

Ah no Steve, yet another principled and erudite individual sacrificed to the gods of Dumbledowntown. Shake em out of your hair mate and move on, you know who your admirers and friends are and we will always be there for you and you for us. Congratulations on having bags of style and integrity Steve and for hanging onto them which is even more important! xxx

What you don't realise is how much good this has done your standing in the local Glastonbury community, and how much this has confirmed that our local 'alternative' radio station is just another privatly owned corporate profit making machine. Well done Steve!

Sorry to hear your news, Steve.
Can't upset the paymasters in the desperate scramble for cash! Maybe you should put a regular podcast on your website instead and then be completely free of editorial control. Anyone can be a broadcaster these days - if you really feel inclined, shove something on You Tube - you see, there are always ways around the established order thanks to Tim Berners Lee (with whom I share a birthday/year) Rose

I hope in the fairness of this "free speech" that Steve will allow me to post an official response to these comments, as there are always two sides to every story.
I was away in the Lake District when this decision was taken, and it wasn't just an "advertiser" that Steve chose to attack on his live show, it was the major shareholder, a Director and main financier of the station, who in my absence, decided immediate action was needed and suspended Steve whilst the matter was investigated. At this point, only the producer was told and Steve had not been notified by us. However due to Steve being informed, a decision had to be made somewhat quicker than had been originally intended.
If that shareholder had been an advertiser outside the company, he may have sued the business for considerable compensation, therefore an example had to be made to show that presenters cannot do this, regardless of our "free speech" principles. A radio station cannot run without finance, whatever it's principles be.
It is sad that things have ended on a sour note as I personally like Steve and enjoyed the show, but I also have to make sure the radio station continues to survive in difficult financial times.
I wish Steve all the best for all his future endeavours.

Please will you do some podcasts or do You Tube as suggested by Rose previously. That sounds like a great idea. I know on a personal level your reading you did for me last year was great and I am coming back for more this year, so something must be OK as I know I am not on my own.
As the saying goes...don't let them get you down( or words to that effect).
take care Steve, best wishes Sandra

In response to Ross's posting of yesterday, as seen above,I'd like to comment. I'd ask the people out there to lay off Glastonbury Radio. Firstly, if I hadn't put my foot in my mouth, none of this would have happened. Secondly, Ross was away at the time my sacking occured and was not in a position to intervene or influence the decision - it's nothing to do with him outside of his capacity as CEO. And thirdly, GR is essentially a money making enterprise, it has to take decisions based on pragmatics. If I were doing what they are, I may have taken the same action. Onwards... Steve Judd

I have just found out that todays show will not be on, I will miss you astrological rants. I hope you are able to do some podcasts or perhaps come back to the station one day.
Best wishes for the future Steve.
