In the last decades of the twentieth century the spawn of cold war paranoia took root in fundamentalist attitudes in both the Pentagon and Tehran, resulting in ill thought through attempts to ‘rule the world' - witness 9/11, where outside America the vast majority of people intuitively feel that at least to an extent it was an inside job. Whether this was an excuse for the Bush jihad or not, the cost of the resultant resource wars in terms of money and especially in terms of the middle ground Republican vote was and continues to be catastrophic. Much of what was left of the old Republican party have tried to purge and purify their ideology (Tea Party), resulting in a plethora of sanitized candidates, none of whom have a spark of individuality, all who seem to think that the only way forward is by walking on their opponents in a pseudo sophisticated way that overlays a desperation bordering on obsession. And at the end of the day the winner has to go up against Obama, an absolute no brainer I'm afraid. This is written as the news comes in that one bland man has beaten another bland man in Iowa, the size as England, by eight votes. In that context, and because a few of you have asked, - Mitt Romney (12.3.47, 09.51, Detroit). My initial impression is that he's not a nasty man, but with the Sun conjunct Ceres, both squaring Uranus, he's constantly influenced by issues concerning nurturing and homeland. This is exacerbated by Venus on the MC opposite Pluto at the base of his chart, suggesting a very powerful influence from his mother, and a continuing influence from powerful women in his life. And that Moon Jupiter conjunction in his Scorpio 6th house desperately wants to serve, to be of use, but also tends to promise more then can be delivered. This year, there are two big influences. Neptune is squaring his early Gemini Ascendant, creating seeds of discord and confusion between him and others at the one to one level, making him appear slightly foggy. And Uranus is sextiling his Midheaven and Venus, suggesting that his charm and superficial common touch will go down well with people. There's already enough Pisces energy in his chart, he doesn't have to pretend (like the others, except Ron Paul) to be pious. But - as November looms, so Saturn squares itself, his Midheaven and his Venus. He probably will win the candidacy, although his generational past may reveal some skeletons. But will he beat Obama? At the moment - you kidding me?

Watched the news this morning and the Iowa was top story. All I could think was about the amount of teeth whitening that had gone on - oh dear. And when I hear the word 'evangelist' being used, I shudder. Obama will come through but not because of what he has done, unfortunately, but because the opposition does not seem strong enough to oust him. His hands are tied by the system so the system needs changing - some hopes, huh?

What seems blindingly obvious to me is how the whole world has been forced into "austerity" because governments have repeatedly been encouraged to borrow more while not balancing the books properly, so necessitating governments to go cap in hand to the IMF, which is run by the USA. The main policy throughout the USA is of a few people having loads of money while the many have nothing. No home, no healthcare, no education, no job, etc, etc, ad infinitum. This shows a lack of imagination and also that the so-called austerity is politically engineered and only benefits those at the "top", the faces we are allowed to see governing us (and I don't mean Obama). This is the level of "democracy" we are being forced to adopt and it does nobody any favours. I will be very glad to see the back of the "invisible money" we've had being hyped for so many years and we the little people being made to take on the burden of this "democracy" shouldn't be taken in by it. If, as I strongly suspect, this is politically engineered, it is up to us to redraw the lines of accountability (which is what the City, Wall Street and other protests are doing) and make our own destinies, which I believe is what you, Steve, have been saying all along. Governments need to understand we DON'T need them, but they certainly do need us. All our governments are cowardly and brainless, self interested, spineless fools. If we wait for them to help us out, we'll be waiting a long, long time. I hope 2012 will certainly re-draw the lines and give us the lives we have long wanted.

Here here, 18:30! - and Steve, you said Ron Paul was the only one who had the stars on his side..it does look that way, and i think he will do really well and surprise alot of people. He might even win the majority of the delegates - but lose the nomination. That has happened before! He is a fundamentalist of a different stripe - a Fundamentalist Libertarian. Yes, he has backbone and cannot be corrupted - but he cant compromise, either, and i think that is a grave fault. he scares me, actually...BTW, I know people who know Mitt - and they say he is in fact not a very nice person - nasty, even.

Hi Steve,
How about Ron Paul? Have you worked on his chart as well? Does he stand a chance at all?

All the sturm and drang over Iowa, when the number of citizens participating was about the same as attended the Rose Bowl here in CA. 100K Iowans are able to determine the race, nice. Anyway, as an Obama supporter (might be too strong of a word, I'm voting for the lesser of two evils again) I'm not too worried about Romney. He'll be the nominee, it's what the PTB want. But Obama's real opponent is the economy. If it's decent, he wins. If not he loses.
