Global Forecasts
I normally record the monthly videos as late as possible to maximize current influences. Late last week, the man who makes the videos happen, Mr. Birthday Matcher, got diagnosed with kidney cancer, he's under the knife in a few days time. So this month's video's are shorter and not the normal. Please remember that essentially I am a one man band (with a little bit of valued help). Normal service resumed next month.
It's difficult to summarise how this month is likely to be. Personally, I've been waiting for decades for this month, and now it's here the immensity of it all is overwhelming. The basic astrology of it is clear - Jupiter and Uranus together at the start of Aries squaring Pluto at the start of Capricorn and opposing Saturn at the start of Libra. This pattern has been building obviously for about four years, but since last November it's become actualised, and the period of late May 2010 through to mid August 2010 is the time of maximum pressure. During this three month period of rarefied pressure never experienced before in human history, there are four waves of change rolling in, with the final and biggest one at the end of July. Venus and Mars come together on top of Saturn in the last few days of this month and the first few days of August, triggering the whole pattern and bringing the potential for massive closure. Old structures and monoliths are collapsing; there will be temporary chaos in a number of areas. Yet this is necessary. By the end of the first week of August, the pressure is decreasing. In the second week of August there's the Leo new Moon, at the same degree as the total eclipse of August 1999. By mid August the metaphorical phoenix will be beginning to stretch its wings, and by September the new will be evolving from the rubble of the old. But July 2010? It's astrology's December 2012, it's the nexus point that we've been accelerating and condensing ourselves towards for decades and lifetimes, it's the biggest moment in human history so grab your surf boards, negate fear and just go for it. What have you got left to lose?
The first ten days of June, when Jupiter and Uranus are together in the very first degree of Aries, is potentially a real firecracker of a time. There could very easily be sudden and incisive actions without thought of repercussions, leading to far greater problems at the end of July and start of August, possibly in Pakistan or Israel. Mars finally leaves Leo and moves into Virgo closing steadily with both Venus and Saturn in the run up to the massive line up in two months time. But the big news is the full Moon on June 26th, conjunct Pluto, a position and time that talks of massive death and rebirth, of major food and nurturing issues suddenly becoming dominant, and of deep subterranean forces at work. Pluto rules regeneration and transformation; it also rules nuclear and atomic issues. June will be an incisive month in ways that clarify status and stance for individuals and nations in a way from which there's no going back. Either walk your talk or take a back seat and watch.
May 2010
For the video go here
The first half of May, when Mercury is still retrograde, is a time where communications in general will be down, and common sense will be noticeable by its absence. But once we're past the middle of the month, things are suddenly going to become both very clear and very fast. Jupiter, Saturn and Uranus all get into a big bout of celestial handbags, and a number of hard choices are going to have to be made at the end of May. If you react in ways that bring difficulty or challenge into your life at this time, more fool you. The pattern at the end of May is unique, it hasn't happened like this for well over a hundred years, and probably a lot longer than that, and it holds in it the chance to break the mold, throw it away and begin again as well as the chance for innovation, novelty and stimulation and for re-inventing yourself. If you take chances at the end of May there's a slightly higher chance than normal of them coming true. Chances, not risks. The old ways are going, it's time to break new ground. Enjoy.
Collectively, we're entering the final month of preparation, as though we're walking the last steps to the start of the giant ski jump. Decisions and actions of recent years have left us in a place where there is no more changing course. It's now a question of fine tuning as we approach end May/start June, a point that astrologically symbolises the start of something wonderful, exhilarating and hugely transformative. There will be a strong reaction to this in early August, and from then we will see clearly the first signs of how the new future is going to be. Neither the Aries new moon on the 14th or the Scorpio full Moon on the 28th is seen as difficult. The main influences in April are twofold. Firstly, the accelerating approach of Jupiter to Uranus and their mutual entrance into Aries sparking the triggers for the new future. This is in the final stages, and initiates at the start of June. Secondly, and more inconveniently, just as things are getting really interesting what should come in but - Mercury retrograde! This starts on the 18th, but communication difficulties will be strong all month. Trust gut instinct more than rationality at this time - know when to jump and when to stand still.
The Saturn/Pluto square has faded into the background for a few months, and Neptune is noticeable for most of us by its lack of action. But Uranus... the new Moon in Pisces on the 15th March is exactly on top of Uranus, bringing a time of radical change, innovation, novelty, chaos, unpredictability and new beginnings. This is big folks, really big. Times like these are the equivalent of throwing fishing lines into the future for many years to come. This time speaks of the decline of orthodox religions and the increasing emergence of the holistic and self empowered philosophies and belief systems. And with Jupiter also racing through early Pisces, particularly affecting those born around the 1st to the 8th of March, things will not be small. Add to this the fact that over the whole month Mars is standing still at the very start of Leo, a feisty and fiery position if ever there is one, and I anticipate a lot of sudden developments this month that will change our ideas of how the future will be. This is a month of compressed and concentrated change. It will either be focussed on specific objectives, or it will be random and unpredictable. But change is here...get your surfboards ready!
Written in a real hurry late a.m. on the 1st, hard core yet euphoric trance on loud, feeling sharp. The interplay between Saturn and Pluto is fading for the time being, the growing intensity of recent months for early Librans, Capricorns, Aries and Cancerians is now plateauing, pressure isn't lightening but neither is it getting any worse. January's full Moon on Mars changed a lot of things for a lot of people. February's new Moon is conjunct Neptune on the 14th, great for romance but awful for gullibility. This should be the end of Neptune's influence for most of us in 2010, glad to see the back of it until it moves into Pisces in a year or two. This month the focus is on Jupiter and its accelerating journey through Pisces, although Uranus, also in Pisces, is closing fast on the inside. Expect February to be more growthful and expansive once we are past the 14th, as well as increasingly innovative, sometimes by necessity. The full Moon on the 28th is exactly opposite Jupiter, likely to be HUGELY developmental. Check me nearer the time. The big news in the early part of 2010 is not outer planet transits, that's so 2009. It is the continuing importance of the new and full Moons, suggesting a succession of sowing and reaping, old endings and new beginnings. We've had Moon on Mars - in February it's the turn of Neptune and Jupiter, and my feeling of that one involves huge bodies of water.
2010 is the year I've been waiting for my entire life. Ever since I was a kid I knew there was something special about this time, and when I discovered astrology and saw the planetary patterns happening in 2010 I felt vindicated. This really is the year where - everything changes. This is the bursting forth anew of a new way, a consciousness shift of the highest order that has been waiting to happen for tens of thousands of years. Don't get bogged down by petty insecurities, you're seeing the emergence of a whole new way of life that has been promised but never realised until now. Timings? There are a few critical times...The 15th-18th January occupies my immediate attention, with an almost total eclipse of the Sun, Mercury standing still on top of Pluto and squaring Saturn, and Jupiter moving into Pisces. The inference here is troublesome, violent communications concerning contagion from an underhand and behind the scenes source, not that which is presented - the passing of the old structure. The new Moon on 14 February is conjunct Neptune, and the new Moon on 15 March is conjunct Uranus. Dissolving, slipping away, deception, the common urge for social change becoming more powerful, followed by something new in March that gives us collectively new hope. At the beginning of June, Jupiter and Uranus come together at the very start of Aries, as strong an indicator of new change as you're ever likely to get. There will be startling new developments, breakthoughs, contact and innovation that will be seen as the start of the new future. At the end of July and start of August, Venus, Mars and Saturn come together at the start of Libra to oppose Jupiter and Uranus for a few days, a trigger time if ever there is one. Suggestive of the old fighting against the new, structured discipline in the name of sharing trying to limit and curtail the new and original, ultimately doomed to failure. The business of 2010 is to live closer to the edge, to take chances (NOT risks, but chances) and to live a little bit dangerously. The alternative is to vegetate and complain about how hard your life is whilst waiting for someone else to change it for you until you die. We are changing. The compression of population and the resultant telepathic and intuitive acceleration that is taking place now is unstoppable, and should be embraced and encouraged. The patterns until August show increasingly the need to come off of the fence and to make and take conscious choices. From September onwards, a new energy is in town, one that suggests a much greater sharing of resources, either by choice or need. And I'll look at that one nearer the time.
Written on 1st December. Touch wood, the ongoing and culminating Jupiter/Neptune conjunction seems to be working for most people, and as long as global jihad doesn't break out before the end of the month I'll be delighted when we get into January and Jupiter moves into Pisces. But let's get there first, the actual conjunction is on the 21st and until then the potential for largesse, hype and over exaggeration is still strong. The Saturn/Pluto square is grinding away in the background, affecting a good 10% of my client base in terms of forced restructuring and downsizing but also consolidating and getting clarity. Mars is standing still this month at 19 degrees of Leo, so check your chart for getting buttons pushed at this degree, and learn how to transmute anger into laser like action. And of course, what would life be like if we didn't have the occasional Mercury retrograde? Officially starts on the 27th, but will be in effect from about the 10th, throughout mid-Capricorn. The new Moon on the 16th is unusually blessed, really good opportunities coming as a result of thinking and acting outside of the box.
November 2009
(written in a real hurry on the morning of November 2) The large scale and long term theme continues to centre around Saturn. Although its opposition to Uranus is now dormant, this will return in the New Year, but for now the edginess and disruption has decreased to an extent. But Saturn is now squaring Pluto, making us take more responsibility for ourselves in a way that breeds self confidence and self reliance whilst at the same time removing all the short cuts and making us do things properly. The main event in November is during the middle ten days, when the Sun and Mercury combine to square Jupiter, Neptune and Chiron. If the time since May has been over amplified, then mid November will see the final bursting of the balloons, things will come down to earth with a bump. It is a viral time; situations can suddenly expand, and shouldn't be paid too much attention to. The energy of this month is very different to anything so far this year - it's exploratory as opposed to effective, initiatory as opposed to culminative, and a time to tentatively project the first roots of the new structures and boundaries into the outside world
With both Mercury and Venus coming together with Saturn in the first half of October, this is a time not only of decision but also of action for many of us. Inaction now will only lead to further inertia, which in its turn leads to complacency and stagnation. The new and full Moons are tame compared to recent months; the biggest thing happening is the movement of Saturn from Virgo into Libra on the 29th, a time that symbolically represents the moving from 4th into 5th gear on our recent evolutionary cycle. Things are going to become much more black or white, yes or no come November, so individually we're all best off recharging our batteries this month whilst we can.
There's a big Mercury retrograde happening over most of September, something that happens seven times every two years but is different every time. For many of us, especially those who have been under strong limitation and restriction since this time last year, September represents the final breakdown of the old structures that haven't proved flexible enough for the changing circumstances of life. Brick and steel boundaries will crumble: but those that are made of unbreakable rubber and elastic will survive and flourish. Clarity won't come until October - September is a month not of big decision and plan, but of dream, vision and imagination from which solid structures will emerge next month. The new moon on the 18th is a kind of pimple on top of the boil. The symbolism is of edifices and monoliths crumbling with ((please no!) brief turbulence, even warfare at the end of the month as a remedy out of economic disorder. The new will come in a month or two's time, but first the decks have to be finally cleared in preparation.
August 2009
In my astrological opinion, August 2009 represents a peak experience, a nexus point through which we must all go one way or another. Since 2001, many of us have passed through life changing times the import and frequency of which defy normal expectations. And if the last nine months has represented an exam or summing up of the last seven or so years, then be aware that the coming five weeks represent the pimple on top of the boil. We start the month with Mars squaring Saturn, suggesting final endings in our personal lives, and sabre rattling in the global field. By mid month, Mars is squaring Uranus, bringing the shockingly new into our lives, as well as suddenly putting new options on the table across the spectrum, although probably in an unsettling way. And at the end of the month, Mars opposes Pluto at the start of Capricorn, just as Mercury stands still for a week at the beginning of Libra, square both of them, prior to going retrograde for most of September. That to me is the flashpoint, the time where we as a species make a choice about our collective future. And will I be glad to see the September equinox!
July 2009
Jupiter, Chiron, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are all retrograde this month, there's no new developments going to suddenly up the ante. With both Venus and Mars in Gemini, most of July will be verbal, fast, mobile and intellectually stimulating, if a little ‘edgy'. There are three times of note. These are at the very start of the month, where there may be fast and sudden news bringing information about a fresh start, followed by the Capricorn full Moon on the 7th working very well with Saturn, suggesting that the economic situation should be more opportune for social sharing. And at the very end of July, Mars squares up to Saturn in a way that will bring festering situations ongoing since October to a final head in early August. Tune in next month!
June 2009
It's all about the inner planets this month, with Venus and Mars together throughout June in the sign of Taurus, bringing a much more earthy and sensual feel into the group dynamic. There should be a bonding of people; this combination is healthy for all types of relationship and romantic development. But the new Moon on the 22nd is opposite Pluto, indicative of some type of metaphorical scalpel, sudden incision or ending - probably quite sudden and dramatic. And the full Moon on the 7th is squaring Saturn, but this is bringing the beginning of the end of the pressure that so many people have been under since October. The tide is turning, but don't expect a quiet month.
ADDENDUM 31/05/09 - the first couple of weeks are comparatively tame, a number of endings with the full Moon but nothing too serious I hope. The full Moon on June 22 is a kick backside Moon, the final eliminator in readiness for the eclipse of July 22. It is a turbulent month, but it is final jockeying for position in readiness for the ‘off'. It is the transition point between what I call the correction part1 and part 2.
The first half of May offers a brief respite from the madness that was April, but by the middle of the month the next wave of challenges is coming in. The second half of May is governed by the massive conjunction of Jupiter, Chiron and Neptune at the end of the month, being squared at the same time for two weeks by Mercury standing still at the end of Taurus. These are the times of the false prophets, there will be many attempts to influence individual and group though, philosophy and theology. It’s a time of spin and hype, from which you shouldn’t expect results until at least December. Yet at the same time it’s a great energy for dream, idea and vision, from which plans and actions can be made – later. Now is the time for new ideas, stimulation and novelty. – Last minute update, written on one May – I’m sticking my neck out here. I think that, from an astrological perspective, the current hype and spin about epidemic is a veneer, a gloss over the real issue – that of the corporate factory pig farm in Mexico where this originated, and how that issue is being obscured. With Mercury retrograde squaring Jupiter and Neptune for the whole month, we aren’t going to even get clarity, let alone the truth. And this will come back, in December, in a much stronger but shorter and sharper way.
The Taurus new Moon on April 25th is quiet, but the Libra full Moon on April 9th is full of opportunity for some, with real chances for growth and expansion. Over the long term, April is seen as a month of energies jockeying for position in readiness for what is coming in mid/end May. But in the short term, there are two specific times that stand out. The Mars/Uranus conjunction around the 15th will bring sudden and hopefully stimulating change into many of your lives. I particularly like the conjunction of Venus and Mars over the second half of the month, passing together from feminine and intuitive Pisces into masculine and assertive Aries around the 23rd. This will be a sparky time for a number of relationships, both global and personal.
There are three significant pointers during March. There is the Virgo full Moon on the 11th March, right next to the planet Saturn in the heavens and also opposite Uranus. This will bring a ‘cap’ to the economic and political earthquakes of the last six months, and initiate the preparation of the ground for the next phase of the ‘Correction’, due in September. At the same time, Mars in the sky conjoins with Neptune, suggesting that a degree of mystery and intrigue may dominate at this time, with doubts as to the honesty of some of the statements being made. In the run up to the 11th there will be considerable changes in the Iraq/Iran area, where oil will once again (briefly!) become a major issue. The other significant factor during March is that of Venus standing still in mid Aries prior to going retrograde for six weeks. Particularly affecting those born around the 6th to the 9th of your respective month, it’s a time where values worldwide are going to change. Aries is all about ‘me’, whilst Venus is about ‘us’, so issues of (in)equality and sharing will predominate.
The start of the month sees the second passage of the Saturn/Uranus opposition, so I expect a degree of friction in a number of areas at that time. But by the 5th/6th there’s a notable shift in the energy as Mars enters Aquarius, and up until the middle of the month performs a romantic and humourous dance with both Venus and Jupiter, suggestive of successful negotiations and general balance. And around the 23rd, look to the sunrise point about an hour before sunrise itself – you’ll see a spectacular light show of Mercury, Mars and Jupiter all together shepherded by the waning wafer thin crescent Moon. Events of reconciliation and communication at the end of February can go a long way towards solving the issues that arose at the end of December. The Leo full Moon on the 9th is opposite Neptune, and is likely to briefly exacerbate and confuse any uncertainty in the Middle East, but by the end of the month the energy has changed and the Pisces full Moon on the 25th is much more hopeful and points to times ahead in 2012. And as to the current rumours about the Age of Aquarius starting shortly – utter balderdash, the astrology doesn’t add up. This is the time of endings of prophecy, not some new golden age.
December is a monumentous month, with repercussions from recent months becoming increasingly apparent. The month starts with a lovely Moon, Venus and Jupiter conjunction in mid late Capricorn bring a degree of hope and optimism into the world, followed by an absolutely critical full Moon squaring both Saturn and Uranus on December 12that is really going to change the group dynamic, worldwide. And the Mars/Pluto conjunction between December 24 and 27 brings to a conclusion things that have been in development since the end of September of last year, peaking last Christmas, echoing at the end of February and mid August and ending finally at the end of this year. I anticipate explosive developments around Pakistan in the last five days of the year. By New Year, it's a different ball game and situations can be reassessed. But until the end of December we collectively are in the mix, all on our surfboards and nothing is safe and predictable. Dance.
(Written in a real hurry on the morning of November 1)
This is it folks, this is the month where everything changes. Recent weeks have seen both the applecart upturned and the new trying to come in. Because the bankers are still paying massive bonuses it's obvious they haven't learnt, so the end of this month is likely to see some type of regulatory imposition on banks and associated companies as Jupiter, Saturn and Uranus reach their peak of mutual interaction. Add to this the impending transit of Pluto into Capricorn at the end of November and the scene is set for a volatile mix of revolution and rigidity, although I prefer Bernadette Brady's interpretation of Structure and Surprise. The end of the year will be a finale in many more ways than one as Mars adds his mix. Surfboards at the ready, and your boundaries should by now be transparent and flexible rubber and elastic. If they're still steel and concrete, you're in serious trouble.
Jupiter, Saturn and Uranus dancing so well with each other that some type of permanent shift in lobal and global economics is inevitable. Bye bye stock exchanges and speculators, the writing is on the wall. (NB: I wrote this in December 2007)
Jupiter, Chiron and Neptune all conjunct in late Aquarius. False prophets?
and the grand cross, but that's another story for later on....... UPDATE 01/12/04 More on 2010. It represents the entelechy of humanity. The time of realisation of potential, one way or another. Population enhancement, environmental degradation and cellular stress contribute to a schism time of parallel but opposite evolutionary chains. Time to move on, folks!
Jupiter in Virgo opposite Neptune in Pisces - the last big challenge for at least thirty years. The symbolism is of flooding - big time
