What’s different at the start of the year compared to recent times is the amount of focus and concentration you suddenly appear to have. The more the month evolves, the more you will see that your ability to focus with almost pinpoint precision on your subject matter gets stronger and stronger. The problem is not your focus – it is clarifying the subject matter! Are you looking more at your professional environment or are you primarily concentrating on your philosophical and ethical progress. It’s tempting to go for the best of both worlds, but really you can’t do this – you have to choose and make your mind up what your priorities are, and then walk your talk.
Business and Finance
Despite what may seem positive influences at the very start of the month, January is not a time for starting new enterprises, moving forward or making big gains. In fact, there’s a real risk of over-reaching yourself in the professional world, so don’t believe everything that you’re told. You won’t get clarity on where you’re going in work situations until mid February at the earliest and more likely March, so there’s no rush. It’s time to smell the coffee and let the experiences waft over you – you can make sense of them later.
Romance and Relationship
In your own indominitable way, this month is great for persevering and persisting in the seemingly endless pursuit of love. Even if you’re happily and long term partnered, you’re still going to find that this month brings a degree of craving, one that can actually be satisfied through having an active and healthy social life. It’s not a time for retreating, more a time to get out there and make it your world without becoming a drama queen. You just don’t give up, and that’s what wins through in the end.
Health and Spirit
There’s a new, more relentless drive in town that’s beginning to combat the morass and quicksands of the last year, and you’ll find that the year gets steadily more solid, if not completely predictable. The basic theme for this year is that the un and subconscious are in good shape and if it’s working don’t fix it. The confusion and the odd moments of neurosis are still lurking in the background, but won’t be so obvious this year. And this change is what is happening now, this month. Not exciting, but dependable.

A mixed year, with some of you doing well and others losing to an extent. For all of you, 2009 is not the year to pin all your hopes on career because there are likely to be white elephants promising more than they can deliver. Those of you born from the 15th to the 18th are advised to treat all new developments with caution, as there may be an element of hype and spin about things, especially around your birthday. Some of you are doing very well – those born at the start of Taurus on the 20th – 24th April are going through intense but wonderful times of transformation, whilst those of you born around the 10th to the 14th are in an excellent state to revolutionise your limitations and bring a greater degree of structure into your more chaotic side. This year is about self regeneration and your place in community, don’t let professional success exclude you from your friends because this success could be transient and we all need friends for when times are not so good. 2009 is the year to reclaim your place in community - don’t be a stranger!
